Cisplatin, fluorouracil, and docetaxel in unresectable head and neck cancer

Article Abstract:

A comparison study results from docetaxel plus cisplatin and fluorouracil (TPF) and cisplatin plus fluorouracil (PF) as induction chemotherapy in patients with locoregionally (head and neck) advanced, unresectable disease is presented. The results show that induction chemotherapy with a combination of docetaxel plus the standard regimen of cisplatin and fluorouracil (TPF) is superior to the standard induction chemotherapy.

Cisplatin and fluorouracil alone or with docetaxel in head and neck cancer

Article Abstract:

A randomized phase 3 trial results of the treatment of squamous-cell carcinoma of head and neck is presented. Patients receiving docetaxel plus cisplatin and fluorouracil induction chemotherapy plus chemoradiotherapy showed longer survival than those receiving cisplatin and fluorouracil induction chemotherapy plus chemoradiotherapy.

Postoperative irradiation with or without concomitant chemotheraphy for locally advanced head and neck cancer

Article Abstract:

Comparison of concomitant cisplatin and irradiation with radiotherapy which is used in stage III or IV head and neck cancer is discussed. Postoperative concurrent administration of high-dose cisplatin with radiotherapy is more efficacious than radiotherapy alone in patients with locally advanced head and neck cancer.
