Come the devolution...: in Scotland and Wales devolution may be a key factor in how people vote. But how would the nationalist parties treat the NHS if they gained power?
Article Abstract:
Devolution in Scotland and Wales could be a key factor in how people in the election, although a recent poll showed that just 12% of those asked in Scotland felt that devolution was an important issue. There are concerns by RCN Scottish board secretary June Andrews that a devolved parliament would mean the end of the UK-wide pay review body, rasing the issue of local pay bargaining once more. The Conservative party created a separate Scottish manifesto, pledging to increase NHS spending in Scotland. Plaid Cymru, the Welsh nationalist party, has pledged to abolish NHS trusts and GP fundholding.

Just sing 'aargh.'(voice clinic at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary)
Article Abstract:
The voice clinic established by Arnold Moran within the ear, nose and throat unit of the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, Scotland, attracts a wide range of patients, from professional opera singers to ministers of the church. Each week, the voice clinic sees around eight or nine patients suffering from problems with their voice. Filming the vocal chords in action using a long metal tube inserted into the patient's throat provides the strongest clue as to the cause of the problem. Some problems are the result of anxiety and can be treated by simply teaching the patient how to breathe properly.
