Creche course in hygiene

Article Abstract:

A study of a day nursery caring for 10 babies, 10 toddlers and 30 pre-school children is used to illustrate the implementation of hygiene practices aimed at minimizing the risk of cross-infection. These measures include caring for babies and toddlers in separate areas, washing toys weekly in a sterilizing solution, and discouraging children from putting toys and other items into their mouths. The children are taught to wash their hands before meals and snacks and after using the toilet and are supervised while doing so. Exclusions of sick children from the nursery depend on the particular circumstances involved.
