Culturally sensitive care in a forensic setting

Article Abstract:

Staff involved in psychiatric care at Bethlem Royal Hospital in Beckenham, England, have been involved in a training programme designed to make them more aware of the need for culturally sensitive care. This involved eight study days over a three-month period, with each nurse attending one study day. It was found that clients' cultural needs have now been given a higher priority. Furthermore, a forum has been set up where clients themselves can talk about issues related to their own culture.
