Effects of extended outpatient rehabilitation after hip fracture: a randomized controlled trial

Article Abstract:

A study to determine whether the extended outpatient rehabilitation, which includes progressive resistance training, improves physical function and reduces disability compared with low-intensity home exercise among physically frail elderly patients with hip fracture is presented. The results indicate that six months of extended outpatient rehabilitation can improve physical function and quality of life, and reduce disability compared with low intensity home exercise.

Bone Mineral Density Response to Estrogen Replacement in Frail Elderly Women: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Article Abstract:

Hormone replacement therapy can increase bone density in elderly women, according to a study of 67 women 75 years or older with mild to moderate physical frailty. Women in this age group have the highest rate of bone fractures from osteoporosis.
