Estrogen receptor-alpha messenger RNA variants that lack exon 5 or exon 7 are coexpressed with wild-type form in human endometrium during all phases of the menstrual cycle

Article Abstract:

A study focuses on determining whether estrogen receptor (ER)-alpha messenger RNA variants that lack exon 5 or exon 7 are coexpressed differentially with wild-type ER-alpha during human endometrial development. There was lack of evidence of differential coexpression of the positive dominant ER variant, splice variants lacking exon 5, with wild-type ER-alpha and it was concluded that dominant negative splice variant lacking exon 7 was slightly increased relative to wild-type ER-alpha in the postovulatory phase.

Cytomegalovirus infection of trophoblast cells elicits an inflammatory response: A possible mechanism of placental dysfunction

Article Abstract:

A study to determine whether cytomegalovirus infection of extravillous trophoblast cells induce inflammatory changes that lead to cell deaths was conducted. The results revealed that cytomegalovirus might prevent normal placental invasion that results in adverse reproductive outcomes that were associated with placental dysfunction.

Matrix metalloproteinase-8 is expressed in human chorion during labor

Article Abstract:

The expression of matrix metalloproteinase-8 by human fetal membranes during labor is investigated. It was seen that the level of matrix metalloproteinase-8, produced by chorionic cells in human fetal membranes, protein and messenger RNA expression in fetal membranes increased during labor.
