Europe pledges billions to solve its drug development woes

Article Abstract:

The problem and the steps taken to minimize the lack of inadequate funds in most of the emerging biomedical companies in Europe are discussed. The author says that the increase in government funding alone is not sufficient to solve the problem and needs to be backed by low prices as well to improve the current status.

The European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) might face problem as expert states that the center may not be up to its task of preparing Europe for major outbreaks. The new center's staff and budgets are too small, while its focus on known diseases would not help combat new illness.
