Evaluation and management of polyneuropathy: a practical approach

Article Abstract:

Polyneuropathy (PN) is a peripheral nerve disorder which requires an understanding of its classifications, axon pathophysiology, and toxins related to PN. Classification of PN involves understanding the functions and features of the peripheral nervous system. As PN can result from axonal function impairment, clinicians should educate themselves about symptoms related to axon alteration. Physical examinations involving assessment in skin and nails can offer clinicians clues to the possibility of polyneuropathy and other peripheral nerve disorders.
