Iodine content in drinking water and other beverages in Denmark

Article Abstract:

A new study investigates the iodine content of beverages in Denmark's drinking water and determines the difference in iodine content between organic and non-organic milk. The study shows large and seasonal geographical variations in iodine concentrations in drinking water, while the iodine content of organic milk is lower than that in non-organic milk.

Day-to-day and within-day variation in urinary iodine excretion

Article Abstract:

Iodine excretion in one 24-hour urine sample is not sufficient to assess iodine status in a single subject because of the significant variation from one day to another. There is a weak link between intake and excretion, but it can be seen that there is a relationship between intake and excretion within the same day. Related research investigating within-day variation in iodine excretion indicates that iodine excretion expressed as a concentration would underestimate the iodine status.
