'Sangaku', wooden tablets engraved with geometry problems, illustrates the flourishing of native mathematics in Japan from 1639 to 1854. The tablets contain problems that are much different from those found in a typical high school geometry subject.

Exotic diseases such as ebola and the hantavirus are very infectious and can spread quickly. In the United States there is little risk from these viruses, but other infectious diseases such as malaria and influenza are the cause of many deaths.
