Exploring continence care provision in nursing homes

Article Abstract:

An audit was conducted in six care homes from different NHS areas to analyze the assessment and treatment of continence, the behavior of the care home staff towards the continence problem and the educational support provided to them and the matters highlighted during the audit are discussed. It was concluded that continence care in care home involves time, energy and dedication and brings peace of mind and dignity to the service users and develops a sense of satisfaction among the staff when done successfully.

Care homes hit back at bad press

Article Abstract:

Care home nurses are under fierce attack from the media in the wake of report by social care inspectors, the Commission of Social Care Inspection (CSCI), which found that half were failing to meet minimum standards for administering medication. However nurses working in care homes state that CSCI report and the negative media coverage is not giving the full account.
