Serum antibodies to the 27-kd heat shock protein in women with gynecologic cancers

Article Abstract:

Many women with cancers of the reproductive tract have antibodies against 27-kd heat shock protein, which is very rare in healthy people. Heat shock proteins are proteins that protect cells from damage under adverse environmental conditions such as excessive heat, exposure to toxic chemicals and other stresses.

Immunoglobulin E antibodies to seminal fluid in women with vulvar vestibulitis syndrome: relation to onset and timing of symptoms

Article Abstract:

Patients with vulvar vestibulitis syndrome were tested for evidence of allergy to seminal fluid to differentiate women with a clinical diagnosis of vulvar vestibulitis syndrome into discrete categories. The relation between the vaginal burning and an allergic reaction to seminal fluid are described.

Extracellular 70-kg heat shock protein in mid-trimester amniotic fluid and its effect on cytokine production by ex vivo-cultured amniotic fluid cells

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to hypothesize that 70-kd heat shock protein in mid-trimester amniotic fluid might regulate local immune system activation. The result showed that 70-kd heat shock protein is released from cells in mid-trimester amniotic fluid as a consequence of TLR2 stimulation and potentiates tumor necrosis factor-alpha production.
