Functional alpha(sub)4-integrin: a newly identified pathway of neutrophil recruitment in critically ill septic patients
Article Abstract:
Research presented concerns the pathophysiology of sepsis, focusing on leukocyte adhesion in septic individuals. The alpha(sub)4-integrin/ vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 pathway of neutrophil recruitment is studied, as well as inflammation caused by inappropriate neutrophil adhesion.

Netting bacteria in sepsis

This article states that platelets in the blood of the human body act as a sensor, which bind intracellular bacteria to release a trap that kills microbes. It has been explained how during this process some damage occurs to the tissues and causes injury.
