Get men's bellies on telly: screening for ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm would detect more cases than screening for breast or prostate cancer
Article Abstract:
Screening for an abdominal aortic aneurysm is only available in some parts of the UK, even though it is more effective than other screening procedures. Screening programmes that have been introduced so far have cut the incidence of abdominal aortic aneurysm rupture by some 55%. A national screening programme would therefore save more than 3,000 lives each year.
