Article Abstract:

There will be significant changes to services for women with gynaecological cancer in the UK in the near future. Guidance for future approaches to care is contained in the document 'Improving Outcomes in Gynaecological Cancers.' There is strong evidence that specialization improves treatment results, especially in ovarian cancer, and that National Health Service provision often fails to supply what is required. Gynaecological cancers are a varied group which require different treatments and have different prognoses.

Managing diabetes: retinopathy and foot ulcers

Article Abstract:

Nurses need to know about the prevention and treatment of foot ulcers and retinopathy, complications which occur in diabetics. Sufferers of retinopathy have blocked, leaky or swollen blood vessels in the retina which can cause other symptoms and visual impairment. Screening and laser treatment can save sight. Foot ulcers are caused by lack of blood supply and damage to nerves. Prevention is through care and patient education, but treatment is difficult.
