Kelly confirms NWS need for higher funding
Article Abstract:
Higher funding is requested for several aspects of the National Weather Service, in a report outlining the results of a review of the agency's budget and operations. Ret Brig Gen John J. Kelly, who led the review, presented the report on Oct 23, 1997 at a press conference of the Dept of Commerce. Among the report's recommendations are a $20 million increase in its 1998 budget, a small increase in the training program in FY1998 and FY1999, and a total field staff of 3,600 in FY1998.
