Health Status of and Intervention for US-Bound Kosovar Refugees--Fort Dix, New Jersey, May-July 1999
Article Abstract:
Over a 10-week period, public health officials at Fort Dix, New Jersey screened 4,045 Kosovar refugees who fled from the 1999 conflict in the Kosovo province of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The refugees began arriving at Fort Dix on May 5, 1999. They had a complete physical examination and all were given medical care if they needed it. They were also screened for tuberculosis, syphilis and HIV infection. All nedical charts were transferred to the state and local health agencies providing health care after resettlement. On July 16, the operation was completed and the facilities at Fort Dix were closed.

Adoption of Protective Behaviors Among Persons With Recent HIV Infection and Diagnosis--Alabama, New Jersey, and Tennessee, 1997-1998
Article Abstract:
Doctors should remind all newly diagnosed HIV patients to engage in safe sexual practices. This can be done when the patient visits the doctor to get a prescription for AIDS drugs. A survey of 180 people recently diagnose with HIV infection found that many adopted safer sexual behavior after their diagnosis. This has been confirmed by other studies.

Bullying Behaviors Among US Youth: Prevalence and Association With Psychosocial Adjustment
Article Abstract:
Many children are subjected to bullying or are bullies themselves. In a survey of 15,686 children in grades 6 through 10, 30% were involved in bullying, either as a perpetrator or a victim. Boys were more likely to be involved in bullying than girls and bullying was more common in grades 6-8 than in grades 9-10.
