High performance liquid chromatography method for the determination of pyridoxal-5-phosphate in human plasma: how appropriate are cut-off values for vitamin B6 deficiency?
Article Abstract:
It has been possible to apply a modified high performance liquid chromatography-fluorescence technique to the analysis of pyridoxal-5-phosphate (PLP), the main active form of vitamin B6 in human plasma. This method permits studies in which small samples may be significant. Percentages of research participants with PLP levels below the 34.4 nM cut-off would seem to suggest that large proportions of apparently healthy people are in danger of vitamin B6 deficiency.

'Determination' of sugar alcohol and Polydextrose absorption in humans by the breath hydrogen (H2) technique: the stoichiometry of hydrogen production and the interaction between carbohydrates assessed in vivo and in vitro
Article Abstract:
The Breath Hydrogen technique helps in finding out the production of hydrogen from substrates and the mixture of sugar alcohols. It also helps in assessing the extent of small intestinal absorption and escape of sugar alcohols to the large intestine. There exists a general relationship between the in vivo and in vitro hydrogen production. Differing stoichiometries used for hydrogen production may lead to wrong interpretation of the hydrogen breath test.
