Histone deacetylases induce angiogenesis by negative regulation of tumor suppressor genes

Article Abstract:

Research presented concerns the relationship between hypoxia, angiogenesis, and tumor progression, focusing on the role of histone deacetylases (HDAC) in chromatin formation and tumorigenesis. The regulation of tumor suppressor genes is addressed, and findings suggest that hypoxia enhances the function of HDAC.

De-mystifying the mechanism(s) of maspin

Article Abstract:

The protease inhibitor maspin mediates the activity of the p53 tumor suppressor gene. This enzyme belongs to the serpin family, and can inhibit angiogenesis, tumor invasion and metastasis.

Maspin is an angiogenesis inhibitor

Article Abstract:

A protein called maspin can inhibit angiogenesis in tumor cells. The protein is encoded by a class II tumor suppressor gene and is a member of the serpin family.
