How to prevent single-parent burnout

Article Abstract:

Single parents who focus all their time and attention on parenting and working will most likely have a burnout. The burnout is often a result of the single parents' desire to be both a super father and mother to their children despite their other obligations. Solo parents should realize that, no matter how hard they try, they can never become perfect parents. Therefore, it is best for their emotional and mental well-being to learn to relax, take things easy and find ways to meet also their own social and psychological needs. Strategies on effective single parenting are presented.

How to help alcoholics help themselves

Article Abstract:

More than 18 million Americans are alcoholics, 85% of whom refuse to seek treatment. As a result, some 95,000 Americans die of alcohol-related causes every year. Like problem children, alcoholics want total attention devoted to them. However, family members must realize that an alcoholic will never get better if he is always allowed to have things his own way. Thus, recovery can only begin when people stop extending inappropriate help to alcoholics. Family members can arrange intervention sessions with the alcoholic to tell him how his sickness has been affecting them.
