Immediate postplacental insertion of GYNE-T 380 and GYNE-T 380 Postpartum intrauterine contraceptive devices: randomized study
Article Abstract:
Two intrauterine contraceptive devices (IUDs) may safely prevent future pregnancies when placed just after the placenta is delivered in a full term pregnancy. Researchers placed 300 GYNE-T 380 standard IUDs and 292 GYNE-T 380 Postpartum IUDs in women in Belgium, Chile, and the Philippines. Thirty-nine of the standard IUDs were expelled within one year (13.2%), and 46 of the postpartum devices were expelled (16.2%). More than 80% of women continued to use the IUDs. One woman became pregnant while using a standard IUD. The suspension technique used did not decrease the number of expulsions.

Comparative effects of a contraceptive vaginal ring delivering a nonandrogenic progestin and continuous ethinyl estradiol and a combined oral contraceptive containing Levonorgestrel on hemostasis variables
Article Abstract:
The effects on hemostasis variables of a contraceptive vaginal ring are compared with those of an oral contraceptive. It is concluded that the contraceptive vaginal ring affected some measured hemostasis variables and sex-hormone-binding globulin differently from the oral contraceptive, most likely because of difference in androgenicity of the progestins.
