Individually determined postpartum magnesium sulfate therapy with clinical parameters to safely and cost-effectively shorten treatment for pre-eclampsia

Article Abstract:

Magnesium sulfate may tailored to individual needs as an effective postpartum therapy for preeclampsia, a form of toxemia characterized by hypertension. A total of 168 women received intravenous magnesium sulfate after childbirth either for six hours or twelve hours, depending on symptom severity. Therapy was discontinued once clinical stability was achieved. Reducing the recovery time by 50% presented an additional economic advantage.

Early risk assessment of severe preeclampsia: admission battery of symptoms and laboratory tests to predict likelihood of subsequent significant maternal morbidity

Article Abstract:

Several laboratory tests can predict whether a pregnant women with preeclampsia has a high risk of adverse pregnancy outcome. Preeclampsia is a complication of pregnancy. Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and significantly elevated biochemical values can predict which women will have a poor outcome.

Second-trimester uterine evacuation: a comparison of intra-amniotic (15S)-15-methyl-prostaglandin F2alpha and intravaginal misoprostol

Article Abstract:

A single injection of (15S)-15-methyl-prostaglandin F2alpha appears to be more effective in second-trimester abortions than intravaginal misoprostol, according to a study of 51 women. The injected drug caused no more side effects than misoprostol.
