Inducible cyclooxygenase may have anti-inflammatory properties
Article Abstract:
Evidence that inducible cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) has anti-inflammatory properties has been found. COX 2 may be pro-inflammatory during the early phase of carrageenin-induced pleurisy, dominated by polymorphonuclear leucocytes. However, it may contribute to resolution at the later phase, which is mononuclear-cell-dominated by generating an alternative set of anti-inflammatory prostaglandins.

COX-2 as a multifunctional neuronal modulator
Article Abstract:
Research presented concerns the role of microsomal prostaglandin E synthase in the nervous system and how COX-2 mediates inflammatory response. The synthesis and regulation of prostaglandin E synthase in the central nervous system is discussed, focusing on how the enzyme is involved in synaptic plasticity and pain induction.

Nogo puts the brake on vascular lesions
Article Abstract:
Migration and proliferation of smooth muscles cells after vascular injury leads to dangerous vessel narrowing. The transmembrane protein Nogo when implicated in inhibition of axonal regeneration limits this smooth muscle progression of vascular lesions after injury.
