Appropriate care should be taken to prevent influenza as it attacks the respiratory system and could result in complications like pneumonia, acute sinusitis or bronchitis. One should get oneself immunized each fall and if infected by influenza, then one should take lots of fluids and bed rest along with drugs like antivirals.

Flu shots: avoid winter influenza with a fall vaccine

Article Abstract:

Getting a flu shot between mid-October and mid-November provides peak immunity during the flu season, which lasts from the end of December to the beginning of March. The shots are highly recommended for those older than 64, nursing home patients and people with chronic heart or lung problems.
