Clear inventory ordering targets are established and guidelines are outlined in order to make the staff member handling the process understand the high and low level of inventory control and enable them to maintain an accurate system. The main goal of the advices regarding inventory control, which represents 6 to 8 percent of practice purchasing, is to establish a process that allows the practice to purchase supplies on a regular basis, avoid mistake and maintain a steady expense level.

Key performance indicators are specific numbers or statistics that tell the dentist how well the office is performing as a business operation.
