Zinc supplementation reduces infectious disease morbidity

Article Abstract:

Results of studies published in the Aug 1998 issue of 'American Journal of Clinical Nutrition,' indicated that dietary zinc supplementation may minimize morbidity associated with various infectious diseases. The studies, which also analyzed zinc's critical role in preventing respiratory illnesses, suggested that zinc supplementation may promote neuropsychological performance, child development and growth.

Muscle disease emerging in France

Article Abstract:

Prof R.K. Gherardi of the Hopital Henri Mondor has published details of cases of a muscle disease of unknown origin in France. Called macrophagic myofasciitis, the disease has increased in frequency and has been correlated with muscle damage and inflammation in patients. It is characterized by sheets of immune cells densely located around connective tissue sheats that bundle together muscles.
