Loss of p14(sup)ARF in tumor cells facilitates replication of the adenovirus mutant dl1520 (ONYX-015)
Article Abstract:
Results demonstrate that in the absence of the tumor suppressor protein p14(sup)ARF, the adenovirus mutant dl1520 is able to replicate in wild-type tumor cells containing p53. Data also show that the therapeutic use of the mutant in tumors is feasible when p53 pathway has only a genetic lesion other than a mutation.

An adenovirus E1A mutant that demonstrates potent and selective systemic anti-tumoral efficacy
Article Abstract:
Adenoviruses infect and replicate in quiescent cells by inducing S-phase entry mediated by viral proteins. Gene-attenuated adenoviruses are employed as selectively replicating anti-tumoral agents as shown by the E1A mutant. Data indicate that the mutant exhibits even stronger potency than the wild-type and reduces metastasis of breast tumor.

Induction of an oncogenic fusion protein by a viral gene -- a new chapter in an old story
Article Abstract:
Researchers report that adenovirus can create an oncogenic fusion protein identical to the one that causes Ewing's sarcoma. This supports the possible role of viruses in the creation of cancer.
