Management material: every day nurses demonstrate the skills that are vital for good leadership, but when it comes to management few think they have got what it takes
Article Abstract:
Many nurses believe they have little to contribute to the management of an organisation such as an NHS trust. Community nurses and health visitors often feel isolated and this is linked to a general lack of understanding about the organisation and structure of the NHS. In general practice, GPs often do not realise that nurses are able and willing to contribute to developing services. Nurses of the future will required advanced clinical skills along with good interpersonal skills and a willingness to embrace change.
