More nurse power

Article Abstract:

UK nursing unions are proposing a radical reform of the way patients are dealt with at a surgery by introducing the right for patients to be seen by a nurse instead of a doctor. The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) voted unanimously for the proposal which would introduce a new way to deliver primary health care. Delegates at the RCN Congress were told how up to 65% of patients chose to consult with a nurse instead of a doctor at a pilot nurse-led care scheme run on a large housing estate. Doctors are expected to oppose the scheme.

Kickstarting the KSF

Article Abstract:

An Agenda for Change (AfC) is issued, which makes use of the Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF) to ensure a good career development for the nurses by providing them a better pay and fair grading. The review reveals that KSF has started being accepted by the people, as it was a very new program earlier with quite unclear outlines and less time and hence was not easily accepted by all.
