Multiple sclerosis: the role of the nurse
Article Abstract:
Multiple sclerosis is often diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 40 so healthcare professionals need to respond in a sensitive way to both physical and psychological patient needs. Many MS sufferers do not have access to teams of healthcare workers, therefore community nurses have an important role in meeting their healthcare needs. There are a wide range of symptoms to understand, including MS fatigue, memory and concentration problems, lack of mobility and speech problems. Symptom management is important and new treatments help in disease management.
