My in-office laboratory review - a joke that's not funny
Article Abstract:
Laboratory inspections under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act are costly, time-consuming, and excessively complicated. A physician had to spend $2,000 for his annual inspection, which was scheduled to take three hours. The inspector examined a list of 290 criteria and found him to be deficient in 23 areas. He was faulted for not having a mechanism for informing physicians of lab tests; however, as a private practitioner he is both physician and lab director. The American Medical Assn is rightly committed to minimizing these kinds ofunnecessary regulation procedures in medical practice.

Many will suffer if nation's public hospitals shuttered
Article Abstract:
It is important for the US to maintain the operation of its public hospitals. If public hospitals are closed, everyone in the community will suffer. The poor and uninsured need a place to go for care and if a major epidemic breaks out or a major accident takes place it is important to have a large facility with specialized services operating. Many private hospitals have available beds but only for basic care.
