New delivery system for plasmid DNA in vivo using atelocollagen as a carrier material: the Minipellet
Article Abstract:
The Minipellet, a new delivery system for plasmid DNA using atelocollagen as a carrier material, is discussed by researchers from institutes and from Sumitomo Pharmaceuticals. The method of gene transfer allows for prolonged release and expression of plasmid DNA in vivo in normal adult animals, using intramuscular injection. Atelocollagen is a biocompatible polymer. A test was carried out, with positive results, to assess whether plasmid DNA remained intact and supercoiled.

Angiotensin II type 1 receptor blockade attenuates TGF-[beta]-induced failure of muscle regeneration in multiple myopathic states
Article Abstract:
Study is presented to show that increased transforming growth factor [beta] (TGF-[beta]) activity leads to failed muscle regeneration in fibrillin-1-deficient mice. The analysis has shown that TGF-[beta]-induced failure of muscle regeneration and a similar therapeutic response in a dystrophin-deficient mouse model of Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
