Noninvasive Glucose Monitoring: Comprehensive Clinical Results
Article Abstract:
The GlucoWatch automatic glucose monitor by Cygnus Inc. appears to be a fairly accurate non-invasive way of measuring blood sugar in diabetics. Research has shown that repeated measurements throughout the day can be used to guide insulin treatment. This in turn can reduce the complications of diabetes. The GlucoWatch creates an electric charge on the skin that pulls blood sugar to the surface of the skin where a biosensor in the device measures it. In a study of 92 diabetics, readings from the device closely matched readings taken from fingerstick blood samples.

Progress in the Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis. (Contempo Updates: Linking Evidence and Experience)
Article Abstract:
An update on the drug treatment of rheumatoid arthritis is presented, focusing on painkillers, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs, and corticosteroids. The most cost-effective approach is to use less expensive therapy for patients with few symptoms and more aggressive treatments for those with the most severe symptoms.
