Norovirus outbreaks at all-time high nationwide

Article Abstract:

The outbreak of the Norovirus, also known as the Norwalk-like virus that is spreading at various places from Scotland, California, Arizona and later Caribbean, is reported. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is attempting to deal with the virus for which it is collecting specimens for confirmation testing and developing a report to assess the impact and public health burden of Norwalk virus in a community.

FDA warning on one drug spurs concern over others

Article Abstract:

The antidepressant, paroxetine, was found to be ineffective and cause higher occurrences of suicidal intent in individuals under 18 years of age, according to several studies. As a result, the US Food and Drug Administration and the UK Committee on Safety in Medicines issued directives to cease prescriptions of this drug to that age group.

Pregnant women should use acetominophen rather than aspirin or other anti-inflammatory agents to avoid miscarriage.
