Outbreak of Community-Acquired Pneumonia Caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae--Colorado, 2000

Article Abstract:

An infectious organism called Mycoplasma pneumoniae may have been responsible for an outbreak of pneumonia that affected 91 people in Moffat County, Colorado between January and July 2000. This organism is a common cause of respiratory infections, particularly in school-aged children.

Outbreak of Pneumococcal Pneumonia Among Unvaccinated Residents of a Nursing Home--New Jersey, April 2001

Article Abstract:

An outbreak of pneumococcal pneumonia at a New Jersey nursing home illustrates the importance of vaccinating all nursing home residents with the pneumococcal vaccine. Seven patients were affected and four died. All seven had never received the pneumococcal vaccine.

Outbreak of Listeriosis Associated With Homemade Mexican-Style Cheese--North Carolina, October 2000-January 2001

Article Abstract:

An outbreak of Listeria food poisoning in Mexican immigrants in November, 2000, was traced to homemade, Mexican-style fresh soft cheese. The raw milk from a local dairy farm that was used to make the cheese was found to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
