Palliative care for frail older adults: "There are things I can't do anymore that I wish I could"
Article Abstract:
The challenges of recognizing fraility in clinical practice and identifying it as a condition for which palliative care would be appropriate are discussed through the example of palliative care provided to an 89-year-old woman with fraility. Common problems and symptoms that frail older adults experience must be recognized, and multi-disciplinary, team-based palliative approaches must be applied to treat these patients' social, psychological and medical needs.
