Pension penalties

Article Abstract:

The government had plans to reform the public sector pension schemes by calculating the pension on career-average salaries rather than on final salaries and raise the retirement age to 65 but it was found that 97 per cent of nurses in the RCN rejected this proposal. The nurses felt that pension is a very important benefit, a pay off for hard work and if the good elements of the existing schemes are removed, there will be repercussions.
