The challenges faced by physicians when attempting to address patient needs and personal evacuations as a result of the wildfires that ruined Southern California is described. Doctors struggled to provide patients with their regular medication by raiding free samples stashes or by writing new prescriptions.

Medical group profits from physician input

Novant Health experienced profits for the first time in its Winston-Salem physician practice in 2002 by holding onto its medical groups. One of the changes that it implemented was that it turned to its physicians for more leadership.
