Article Abstract:

Doctors are encountering the possibility of layoffs for the first time as many of them become employees of corporations. The change in status means that physicians must be able to prove their worth and assert their employment rights. The American Medical Association, which is similar to a union for doctors, should fill the need for assistance on employment issues. The association also serves as a good source for professional contacts, which is beneficial for employment purposes.
