Article Abstract:

Sarah Budd is a midwife acupuncturist within the UK National Health Service. Her training involved assimilating a new model of medical care and gaining experience in China. Budd works with a colleague in a Plymouth hospital, and together they have treated over 3,000 patients for conditions including nausea and vulval varices. Their greatest successes with pregnant women are in the treatment of constipation and backache. Their work during labour includes the stimulation of contractions, and the team has been successful in 65% of their attempts to turn breech babies.

What you think of doctors

Article Abstract:

The professional relationship between nurses and doctors has changed over the last thirty years but no standard pattern of relationship is emerging. Nurses are no longer prepared to look up to doctors in a professional hierarchy, and nurses are increasingly taking on tasks previously done by doctors. Doctors have more respect for the nursing profession, but members of the two professions continue to have prejudices and common complaints about one another.
