Positive progress

Article Abstract:

Stroke victims derive considerable benefits from rehabilitation units, which offer physiotherapy and speech therapy. Patients are taught how to handle daily tasks such as dressing, bathing and using the toilet. Most stroke patients suffer a loss of speech which can be frustrating, but speech therapy is employed to increase the patient's communication skills. The units offer aftercare support to both patient and family, with most patients attending physiotherapy and speech therapy outpatient clinics. Information is given on the case of a 75-year-old stroke victim.
