Vaginal birth after cesarean among women with gestational diabetes

Article Abstract:

Women who have a history of gestational diabetes and a cesarean delivery may not be able to have a vaginal birth during a subsequent pregnancy. Gestational diabetes is a type of diabetes that only occurs during pregnancy.

Postoperative morbidity associated with cesarean delivery among human immunodeficiency virus-seropositive women

Article Abstract:

Pregnant women who are HIV-positive can safely have a cesarean section with minimal problems, according to a study of 86 HIV-positive pregnant women and 86 HIV-negative pregnant women. Although the HIV patients were more likely to have minor postoperative complications, the rate of major complications was the same in both groups.

Trends in operative vaginal delivery rates and associated maternal complication rates in an inner-city hospital

Article Abstract:

The number of pregnant women at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta who were delivered with forceps or vacuum extraction increased in the 1990s. The use of forceps caused a higher than normal number of complications, including infection cervical and perineal wounds, a longer hospital stay, and postpartum complications.
