Power of attorney: if you need someone to manage your affairs, a power of attorney agreement can protect both you and your agent
Article Abstract:
Dentists may elect to have a power of attorney agreement to help them manage their practices. Dentists should contact their attorneys to draft this legal document. Power of attorney agreements transfer either limited or broad authority to a person the dentist selects. Limited power of attorney gives authority over specific business decisions, while general power of attorney grants authority over a range of transactions. Durable power of attorney continues even if the initiating person becomes legally disabled or insane. The agreement can become effective at the time it is made or at a later time.

What's a 'disability' under the Americans with Disabilities Act?
Article Abstract:
Definitions of disability are ambiguous in the context of providing dental care to people who may fall under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (AwDA), which prohibits discrimination in employment and access to services. Although the Act is worded more open-ended intentionally, dentists may be hard pressed to determine whether a disability relates to a life in a major way or allows merely limited activity. Therefore, dentists should exercise individual judgement in cases pertaining to AwDA.
