Predictors of repeat pregnancy among HIV-1-infected women

Article Abstract:

The predictors of repeat pregnancy among HIV-1-infected women enrolled in the Women and Infants Transmission Study (WITS), a prospective cohort study of HIV-infected pregnant women at the U.S. mainland and Puerto Rican sites, are examined. The factors associated with repeat pregnancy among HIV-1-infected women have remained stable over time and the awareness would help healthcare providers to address the reproductive need of HIV-1-infected women.

Impaired CCR7 expression on plasmacytoid dendritic cells on HIV-infected children and adolescents with immunologic and virologic failure

Article Abstract:

The evaluation of the maturation and function of dendritic cells (DCs) in children with perinatal HIV infection on antiretroviral therapy indicate that deficiency in plasmacytoid (pDCs) could impair homing of pDCs to lymph nodes leading to secondary defects of myeloid (mDC) maturation and poor T-cell activation.

Growth, morbidity and mortality in a cohort of institutionalized HIV-1-infected African children

Article Abstract:

A number of debates exist in Africa, due to the HIV epidemics, on whether institutionalized compared with community-based care provide optimum management of infected children. Patterns of morbidity and mortality among HIV-1-infected children residing at an orphanage in Nairobi are characterized.
