Lorette McQueen, a mental health nurse working on a homeless project in London, who spent two years being treated for anxiety and pain following a strip-search and arrest by police in July 1996, has won 30,125 pounds sterling compensation. McQueen was merely conversing in the the street with a client when the police arrived on the scene.
