Prevalence and route of transmission of infection with a novel DNA virus (TTV), hepatitis C virus, and hepatitis G virus in patients infected with HIV

Article Abstract:

The TT virus appears to be transmitted sexually and through blood transfusion. This newly discovered virus does not appear to adversely affect HIV patients.

Prospective randomized two-arm controlled study to determine the efficacy of a specific intervention to improve long-term adherence to highly active antiretroviral therapy

Article Abstract:

Patient education may be needed to ensure that HIV patients comply with all their medications. In a study of 116 HIV patients, those who were most compliant had lower blood levels of viral RNA.

Long-term neuropsychiatric disorders on efavirenz-based approaches: Quality of life, psychologic issues, and adherence

Article Abstract:

Neuropsychiatric disorders and their relation to efavirenz plasma levels as well as quality life, psychologic status, and adherence in HIV-infected patients on long-term efavirenz-based on antiretroviral therapy is assessed. It is shown that mild and clinically tolerable neuropsychiatric disorders persist in more than half of HIV-infected patients on long-term efavirenz therapy.
