Nurse education has been acknowledged with an academic qualification, a degree or diploma, as well as professional registration. Changes are being introduced into the nurse education aimed at strengthening it and building a workforce fit for the 21st century by implementing more stringent assessments to ensure that only those students who are fit to practise are allowed to qualify.

Enhancing support for nursing students in the clinical setting

Article Abstract:

Nursing is a practice-based profession and therefore clinical education is an essential part of the undergraduate nursing curriculum as the quality of nurse education depends largely on the quality of clinical experience. Some guidelines are provided that can be introduced at local level without requiring additional resources in order to improve nursing student's experiences.

Role modelling as a teaching method for student mentors

Article Abstract:

The positive and negative role-modelling behaviors for nursing students are outlined. In the light of the increasing demands on time, role modelling might be the most effective teaching method available as students work alongside practitioners resulting in tasks getting less time consuming.
