Rapid assessment of the needs and health status of older adults after Hurricane Charley-Charlotte, DeSoto, and Hardee Counties, Florida
Article Abstract:
The findings and recommendations from three rapid needs assessments in Charlotte County, DeSoto County and Hardee County are mentioned. With help of these recommendations, Florida Department of Health (FLDOH) immediately deployed its resources for response to Hurricane Charley and made planning responses to future disaster.

Fitness for older adults
Article Abstract:
Keeping active and remaining fit could help prolong life and could even help prevent or delay illnesses or disabilities, as one grows older. Several guidelines by experts for older adults aged 70 to 82 years to keep their health fit and the activities, which are associated with living longer.

Nonfatal self-inflicted injuries among adults aged greater than or equal to 65 years - United States, 2005
Article Abstract:
A study examined the incidence of intentional, nonfatal self-inflicted injuries among senior citizens aged greater than or equal to 65 years. Results revealed that patients admitted to the emergency department for treatment in most cases had a history of depression.
