Rapid response teams - Walk, don't run

Article Abstract:

Rapid response team (RRT) programs provide a system to educate health caregivers in the recognition of the signs and symptoms of physiological instability of patients, developing 'alert criteria', and activating a team of clinicians who attend to the patient for direct evaluation, treatment and possible shifting to another setting early enough to avoid a critical event. The extensive implementation of RRT programs are discussed, also analyzing the potential risks in health care due to this method and providing suggestions to streamline the RRT programs.
