Article Abstract:

Medical experts are concerned about the challenges of providing war veterans suffering from traumatic brain injury (TBI) with continuing medical care and vocational and emotional support, especially because cognitive and psychological aftereffects of TBI can predispose them to falling through cracks in the health care system. An account of what officials in the US Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs term 'a seamless transition' from military medicine to the VA or civilian health care is presented with reference to two veterans suffering from TBI.
